MEETING
May 23, 2007

MINUTES
I. President Jim Pinkston called the meeting to order at 7:19 p.m.
Members present: Jim Pinkston, Rick Kreitner, Lawrence Netterville, Ray Howard, Ron Cross, Charles Johnson, Joe Bayne, Jerry Cole, Tom Spencer and Al Lindsay. (after vote to accept new members, Ken Hutchinson and Pierre Jacques, also in attendance).
II. Minutes from last meeting
The minutes from the April 4, 2007, meeting were read aloud by Mr. Kreitner. Mr. Howard made a motion to accept the minutes as read. Mr. Cross seconded the motion. The motion passed.
New Members
Mr. Netterville presented prospective members, Ken Hutchinson and Pierre Jacques. Each were asked to say a few words and then asked to leave the room for a moment. After a brief discussion, Mr. Cross made a motion to accept Mr. Hutchinson and Mr. Jacques as members. Mr. Cole seconded the motion. Motion passed. Mr. Hutchinson and Mr. Jacques were invited back in to take part in the rest of meeting.
III. Report of Officers
A. President - Mr. Pinkston stated he had several remarks to make for the record.
1. He suggested members dress in proper golf attire for POB golf outings.
2. Members should use proper language and etiquette on the course and in the clubhouse.
3. Members need to call the “box” by Thursday at noon. Grand Marais is monitoring our use of tee times.
4. Our Junior Tournament is a real community outreach. Please give Mr. Netterville and Mr. Cole all your support. Mr. Pinkston will head a campaign for tee sign sponsorships for the Junior Tournament.
B. Vice President - Mr. Cole echoed the sentiments of Mr. Pinkston concerning etiquette.
C. Treasurer Report - Mr. Netterville shared that Treasurer Bill Martin was in the Brookview Nursing Home for rehabilitation, but hopes to come home for Memorial Day. Assistant Treasurer Netterville gave the following report: Beginning balance = $4073.22. Income = $2232.00. Expenses = $53.69. Ending balance = $6251.53. Mr. Cross made a motion to accept the report. Mr. Cole seconded. Motion passed.
D. Secretary’s Report - Mr. Kreitner reported he had sent out the mailing concerning calling the “box” and other information, as requested in the last meeting. He also suggested that the club should be prepared to play different course more often. We are being taken for granted at Grand Marais.
E. Parliamentarian’s Report - Mr. Howard stated he felt the Grand Marais course was in deplorable condition and the club should consider playing other courses.
IV. Committees Reports
Executive Committee - No report.
Fundraising Committee - No report
Membership Committee - No report.
Tournament/Programs Committee - Mr. Cross shared the following assignments for tournaments. Club Championship Tournament - Al Lindsay. Club Picnic - Tom Spencer. Club Championship Dinner - Herman Allums. Two Person Scramble Tournament - Al Lindsay and Kelly Hopkins. Two Person Scramble Dinner - Herman Allums.
A concern was shared about the declining participation in the dinners. Mr. Kreitner suggested those in charge look into a possible shotgun start for the tournaments so that everyone would finish about the same time and could sit down to dinner and picnic together.
Mr. Netterville reported that he had approached AAA Golf Course in Forest Park about hosting the Junior Tournament. The course responded with much enthusiasm and their First Tee program offered to provide financial support and volunteers. Mr. Cross made a motion to hold the Junior Tournament at AAA Golf Course. Mr. Spencer seconded. Motion passed.
Dates for upcoming play:
June 16 - The Rail GC, 10:00 a.m. in Springfield, IL
June 17 - Piper Glen GC, 10:00 a.m. in Springfield, IL
June 23-24 - Derby Brown Tournament at Grand Marais GC.
Rules Committee - Mr. Bayne announced the committee will be asking all members for suggestions of changes to the club’s constitution and by-laws through a mailing.
Budget Committee - Mr. Netterville shared a proposed budget for 2007. After discussion, the budget was finalized as follows:
